  1. Using mkbootimg can be confusing and frustrating. I use a script to repack boot images after modification: repackbootimg It expects the files created by unpackbootimg to be in the current directory. It also can repack the ramdisk if it is extracted under a directory named initrd. Something like the following will do this: mkdir initrd cd initrd cat ../boot.img-ramdisk.gz | cpio -id cd ..

  3. You all know that the phones are assembled with gloves, facial masks and some kind of hair protection? Yes, the virus can survive that long in special cases. But if production was that unhigienic, you'd have hairs, fingerprints and saliva on your phones when receiving it. Also, if it was a threat, international trades would already have been prohibited.

  6. It's a known bug that happens for everyone I believe, the intention is probably to have this happen only when opening the camera from the lock screen so that people cannot spy on your pictures without unlocking. Most phones / camera apps I've used even allow gallery access from locked phone but only to new pictures.

  7. You got Magisk installed? Awesome! But wait, there is more! πŸ™‚ This thread is meant for the exchange of everyone's experience with Riru and Xposed modules running with EdXposed. The installation is pretty simple: 1) In Magisk, install "Riru - Core", reboot, 2) install "Riru - EdXposed" (SandHook), reboot, 3) install "EdXposed Manager" (github.com/ElderDrivers/EdXposedManager/releases). Once everything is set up, install Xposed modules like crazy ... and prepare yourself for a hell of crashes and boot halts πŸ₯°. Since we do not have TWRP with data decryption yet, you have to be prep

  9. There's quite a few variations that are more like hubs than just usb-hdmi. If you want to use it as a video player to a tv, I suggest look for one you can also charge from (they'll have a usb-c input to hook up charger). Some of them will have built in usb hub or sd-card slots, etc.

  10. The device encryption/signing keys are not kept in flash, they are in a separate non-volatile storage which cannot be read outside of TEE (the walled-off "trusted" environment). So no, it does not defeat locked bootloaders nor does it expose your userdata (because userdata is encrypted with a complicated algorithm that uses both the device encryption key and your passcode). But it does mean that if you aren't encrypting your userdata, it can be trivially exfiltrated. Which is one of the main reasons I won't make a build that uses unencrypted userdata. I have not signed any NDA w

At Crackberry a guy was asking where he could try it hands on. So if you are willing to be contacted by someone that wants a hands on before buying, here is a tread to post your Country, state/region, nearest larger town, Then people can create an account in here and send a PM to arrange further. 13. Hi, I'm making this thread to store some of the tricks I've found when using the Pro1. I'll edit the first post with additions and corrections as they come up. To force Portrait when keyboard is stored and Landscape when keyboard is deployed In "Slider Settings" make sure that "Landscape Orientation Lock" is on. Install "Lock Screen Rotation": <https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.ale32thebest.lockscreenrotation> and select "Landscape Mode". Contrary to what you may expect, this works! Apps are now forcibly confined to portrait/landscape mode depend

  15. I am typing this on my Pro1! I opened it yesterday, and here are my first impressions: Keyboard First, the main selling point. The keyboard feels good, though it's most comfortable when standing, sitting in a chair or laying on my back in bed. Not on my side. It's like having a mini laptop! Sub-netbook? Sub-Chromebook, since it comes with an OS from Google?πŸ€” Setup I moved my SIM card from my Moto Z Play (used 2016-2020) to my you-know-what. At first it didn't work, but removing the card and putting it back did the trick. Setting it up was easy. I also turned on

  16. He's mistaken. If you have finqwerty layouts installed, you can use them. The layouts included with stock (besides german for qwertz) don't use the fn-key at all, so the only way to get slash and question mark on qwerty is to not select any layout at all - but then shift won't work right, so finqwerty is a better solution anyway.

  17. @netman thx, I'll try it tomorrow after work. I used mkbootimg and unpackbootimg from osm0sis but for the ramdisk I used gzip and cpio. And I have no idea, which algorithm I have to use for packing.

  18. Try restarting it, maybe the Pro1 has just forgotten that it was on or there is a display bug. You could also install an app to watch the battery drainage or if it actually drains the battery. Lastly, have you tried different cables (not adapters)?

  20. I've done some research and this problem seems to occur rarely but I haven't found any fixes. Some users report that the problem appeared after months of using the feature. It may sound stupid, but have you tried turning it off and on again? If that doesn't help, you could delete cache and dalvik cache and if that doesn't help either, you could restore factory settings, but this should be the last step. Edit: With Android 10 resizing is also possible in landscape, so don't lose all your hopes.

  21. The main part of this is you have to boot to bootloader before executing this command. From android, you can execute adb reboot bootloader; I think you're sfos, so you're stuck using the voldown+power method to get there which always works.

So it does look like call quality is rather inconsistent, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's awful. Next time I get issues with fb messenger video call I'll try rebooting to see if that helps.

  23. Hi, I am from Hong Kong. I know most of the city in China will return to work until 20th Feb. Also, most of the check point of Hong Kong are closed. There is only one land transportation method can be used to ship the stock. It is very disgusting that the Chinese Gov conceal the news about the virus. When you get the phone, PLEASE DISINFECT IT. More than 10k chinese is infected. Absolutely 10k is the number released by Chi Gov. I believe that the actual number is far greater.

  24. Was looking for an app that could activate the screen when opening the front cover (like on my XPeria X, which uses a magnetic sensor). Found WaveUp on the F-Droid Store. The app uses the proximity sensor and works excellently in both portrait and landscape. https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.jarsilio.android.waveup/

  26. In my experience, phone calls on Fxtec Pro1 are unreasonably quiet, and the volume keys don't seem to affect that. Speaker button helps a little, not much. Music player, SirenSong, has no problems - plays perfectly fine, can play loudly, and volume controls work. I think Android had quiet calls, too, but haven't tested music on it - installed Sailfish right away. Thank you. Best wishes, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Per aspera ad astra...

  30. Yes, the device boot ROM communicates with a very simple protocol to download firehose, which is an ELF binary. After verification, it simply runs the binary not unlike running a command from a terminal. I'm not sure if the OEM builds the firehose, but they do sign it. An OEM typically has a separate signing key for each device model. Yes the firehose can be used with any tool. And of course access to the firehose can be dangerous. This is one reason the qfp file is not a simple zip file. No I don't have firehose source. But I could look into releasing some

  31. Ok, so the restore-tool sends the idealte-signed (or is it qualcomm-signed?) firehose programmer to the phone, and then communicates with said programmer over USB to send it the stuff it has to flash (or receive whatever it reads), am I getting this right? So in theory, if one were to take the signed firehose from your tool it could be used with the Linaro tool or something similar? And I take it that you don't have the firehose source (and if you had you couldn't sign the resulting binary), but what with the code from cyngn? I suppose you are not at liberty to release the source of

  32. Yass! Oh, that sounds very interesting! How much is your tool dependent on the NDA stuff F(x)tec gave you? Do you think it is possible to develop something like it as open source, and add reading capabilities to it? I mean, that sounds like a prime way to fully, completely, back up your device :D But apart from that, if you can read flash with EDL, doesn't that kind of defeat locked bootloaders? As in, now I can dump the data from the phone before I tamper with it to get the decryption key? Or is that completely mitigated by a part of the encryption key being stored in a secu

  43. I made a leather pouch for the Pro1. I used cow leather, thickness about 2 mm. All the parts are glued with super glue gel adhesive which remains flexible. I made some holes to see the led and to get stereo sound! There is no flap for closing, just a gap that opens to let the device in and out. see pictures for the details. If you want to try something similar, make sure that the inner part is about 1 mm wider than the phone to ensure it’s easy to slide it out.
